NEW! Adobe Illustrator Tutorial! Make Comic Style Text!
this video was way to long..
you need to stay focused on the subject and stop talking so much..
i couldn’t watch the whole video because i fell asleep
Too much talking, at times I got confused. How about showing us some helpfull uses for masks?
I couldn’t listen to all of his talking to get through the whole thing…. so I’m back to looking for another video….
that was so boring
You said earlier in the video that you can retreive the original pixels years later.
Is this still possible if you save your file to a 24 bit bitmap? Doesn’t Photoshop save the mask in the Alpha Channel?
A 24 bitmap file doesn’t have an Alpha Channel.

Partner status, I stand corrected. lmao
when erased you cant get it back. with a mask you can add things you masked easily. with a duplicate layer, you would have to start over just to add 1 pixel.
wrong. it’s because he is a partner
I did learn a few things, I’m a newbie and very visual…Seems like there should be less talk more showing…Thanks
No offense, but I’ve been using Pshop forever and you managed to confuse ME with this video. If you want to show people how/why to use something, here are some tips: 1) NEVER forget what it was like to be new. Talk to that person. 2)don’t talk so fast 3)Use Real examples. The big black circle and other shapes you used would make no sense to someone new to masks. I think I’ll do a vid on it and try to clear things up a bit.
must become a reporter status.
how could u make a 21 min video on íyoutube?
does anyone know how many times he said MASK…..?! xD (i lost my count after 374)
Very nice tutorial
Is there any advantage to using a mask instead of just duplicating a layer? For example: If i was retouching a face, i’d duplicate the layer and apply a blur filter, then erase over bit i didnt want blurred allowing the original (non-blurred) layer to show through. That seems to be the same as applying a mask, the only diff being that with a mask u use a brush rather than an eraser.
If that’s retarded, please explain why!
how the fuck do u upload a 22 min vid??? i use beta..is that why????
say masks one more time
well thanks [:
i always just did that by making a copy layer of the things i didnt want blurred lol
Picture you apply a blur filter on an image and you dont apply a mask to it to get rid of the effect at certain spots in the picture. you are working on your blur filter applied image. you will need to use your eraser tool to get rid if it which is going to destruct your image. if you use a mask you dont destruct your image and you can simply redo things by switching the color from black to white to revael the effect again.
But i still don’t know why you’d need to use one.
Nice video
helpfull.
– masks, masks, masks, masks, and masks.
