Sorry, I forgot your using 4.0 5.1 it was switched and uses sqli hence why I said mysqli instead of just mysql. I forgot, btw fyi I too am using 4.0 in my college coarse at George Mason University, PHP is a headache, Ive done guestbooks, dynamic calendars and Right am at my final project which is a mysql php website.

You don’t need to, that’s only if you have more than one database.
and fyi it’s mysql_query($result, $connection);
on your $result, you forgot to add the $connection infront of $result, like this
mysqli_query($connection,$result);

The strings should (have to?) be in “, where do you put semicolons dude?
BTW sending the pass without md5 hashing is a great way to keep safety in scripts…
